My Background

I am a former high school science teacher, recently retired after 30 years in the education field.  My areas of expertise, as a teacher, were general science, biology and environmental science.  I am a mother of three boys all of whom have or are working on science degrees at the post secondary level.  As a mother of two boys with dyslexia, I immersed myself in learning ways to help them succeed in school.

I love learning new science and still help my younger son improve his study skills to succeed in university science.

I began my on-line writing career on Hubpages.  They began a program to teach writers how to tailor their ideas specifically for on-line readers – it was called the Apprenticeship Program and I was asked to be a part of that first group.  It was a demanding program but I learned a lot and met a group of awesome authors many with whom I’m still in contact.

Other Facts

  • I was born in Sarnia, Ontario
  • I now live on a farm in the Oak Ridges Moraine in Millbrook, Ontario
  • I graduated with two university degrees in 1988 – a B.A. in Psychology and an Honors BSc in Biology and Urban and Environmental Studies
  • I got my B.Ed in 1989 from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay.  Oh was that an amazing but cold winter experience
  • I am entering my 3rd decade of marriage to a wonderful man who works in the nuclear energy field

I write informational and activity-related posts.  To get started on my blog check out, Easy Experiments: Valuable How To Resources for Home and School.
