I took this photo last Sunday afternoon while on a walk in our 30 acres of hardwood forest at the back of our property. My husband was harvesting wood. We heat our home primarily with wood using an outdoor wood stove. It was snowing steadily but gently that day which is why the photo has a misty quality to it. This photo also seemed appropriate for the “swarm” photo exercise. These are a swarm of trees.
Never say there is nothing beautiful in the world anymore. There is always something to make you wonder in the shape of a tree, the trembling of a leaf.—Albert Schweitzer
Love it, I imagine you can get lost in the middle of all those trees. The photo is nice, the trees are so tall and strong.
I love our hardwood forest. It is a pleasure to walk through in all seasons. It was incredibly quiet and pretty that day during the first significant snowfall of the year! Thanks for stopping by.
That’s a lot of trees? When harvesting them, how many trees do you use for winter? BTW love the quote on the side.
Its about 30 acres of trees in the back of our property. We have almost 100 acres here. We harvest quite a few trees but try to take more of the deadwood or fallen trees. It is incredibly windy today so there will likely be alot of fallen trees the next time my husband goes out for firewood. How many trees do we need? Quite a few but it depends on the severity of the winter. Last winter was bad and we used alot but ran out of wood by March. Thank goodness for our back up oil furnace. We fill up a woodshed that is about 15 feet by 10 feet. But again, very little of our firewood is from cutting live trees.
Are you snowed in? Sounds cozy with your wood stove.
Not snowed in but we have plenty of snow. Right now we are using the indoor wood stove and yes it is cozy.
